Jackie Slade grew up in Stamford, Connecticut. She attended Mt. Ida College for Women, outside of Boston, and graduated with a liberal arts degree. She then traveled by sailboat out of Key West, sailing the Caribbean. Jackie loved the Florida Keys so much she opened a pizza parlor in Key West on Duval St. This colorful venture become the stepping-stone to her career in food.

Wanting to move on to real food she worked her way up to being a chef, fine-tuning her craft by attending the California Culinary Academy. She has been the chef for restaurants in Key West, Provincetown Cape Cod, NYC, and San Francisco. While planning menus, Jackie devoured cookbooks, and food magazines. One day a light went off in her head. “Someone has to design the food for these pictures”. Wanting to learn as much about food styling as possible, Jackie studied with Denise Vivaldo at the California Culinary Academy. She then assisted Mary Sue Thomsen, and Joanne Joyce, for John Francis Films. This gave her the foundation to produce the fine tuned work she does today.
Jackie’s current venture is her expansion of her food styling business. It is an 1800 sq. foot warehouse space in San Rafael, California. She calls it the Food Loft. This completes her plan to have the perfect place to prepare and style foods of all kinds.
